  1. Hi Ronald,

First and foremost, thank you for the fantastic theme! I am having one small issue, however. For some reason my “featured news” post still shows the stock image and does not pull from the feat-img that I added in the post. Also, is there a way for the feat-img to show in the posts when you pull them up individually? I can’t seem to get that done either.

Any help would be appreciated and thank you again! Great work!

    Derek

    • Thanks, Derek. I’m glad you like this theme. Regarding you question, please follow the steps below:

On your “Jacory says hold off” edit post panel, scroll down below for custom fields, press enter new, put “feat-img” (without the quote) inside the Name box and the absolute URL of your image (i.e hxxp://www.domain.com/wp-content/upload/myimage.jpg) on the Value box. Finally, press add custom field to update it. It should work if you follow the steps correctly.

Regarding your 2nd question, the purpose of using “feat-img” is when you don’t have any attached image on post for the script to pull it automatically, if you have one, it will auto pull the image to use as thumb on featured and standard post on homepage.

Using “feat-img” custom field doesn’t directly display the image on single post, you just have to attach the image manually on edit post panel.

I hope that answered your questions, please let me know if you have trouble using this theme again. Thanks.

      • Thanks for the reply! Regarding the first problem, I did have the feat-img tag in the custom fields as well as the absolute url of the image. I deleted and added it again following the steps and the image still did not show. I was able to fix it by adding the image through the post instead of through the feat-img tag. Now it is working fine. It may just be an issue on my end but I hope this helps if anyone has a similar problem.

        Thanks again!

  2. Hi Ronald,

This is one of the best magazine templates I’ve seen. Truly.

I’ve successfully customize the header (as per header.php), but tested it in IE (various versions), and it doesn’t come up. (looks great in Mozilla, Opera and Safari tho). I understand it’s a browser incompatibility issue somewhere, and I’m not sure what needs to be changed.

Sincerely appreciate your help in this.
    Thanks again. Su

    • Hai, Su. Do you mean it shows up in Firefox, but not in IE? As far as I’m concern, the header logo works on Firefox, IE7 and IE8. I didn’t optimize it to use on IE6 though..

Anyway, please make sure you have deleted the h1 and h2 tags inside the siteinfo id. Then, Uncomment the header logo HTML code. You have to adjust the logo size accordingly and it’s best to use transparent PNG for your logo.

Please try it again and let me know if it still not working (include your site url too). Thanks.

      • Brilliant! It worked!! Thanks so much. I earlier used a jpg file.

        Thanks sooo much! You Rock!

        Warmest,
        Su

  3. Hi Ronald,
i am getting mixed output while testing the theme, some time when i am clicking the read more, i am getting page not found and some time when clicking on post it display more then one post at the single post display. Featured news if i type # 1 displays all the categories and pages, it sounds like some thing i am doing terribly wrong please advise

    • Hai, please check your .htaccess config and your wordpress permlinks setting inside the admin page. Regarding the featured news, I’m not sure what’s going on there. If you don’t mind, please provide me the URL of your test site. I’ll take a look at it..Thanks.

  4. it cant be simpler then that, thanks Ronald.

  5. Hi,
Thanks for the great theme, I like to know that plugins you are using in your demo theme specially to display the

glider news, featured news, please advise any plugins or widgets used in the theme

    thanks

    • Hai Taj. All that features are integrated into the theme, no plugins required. You just have to set it up inside the theme options once you activated the theme.

  6. Thanks for this wonderful theme…

  7. Hi-

When I view the demo theme in IE, it looks completely different.
Is this just because it’s a demo, and won’t be a problem once I’ve added to my site?
Hoping it will look the same in both IE and FireFox.
    Thanks.

    • I’m not sure what differences you’re referring to. If you tested it on IE6, it may have some layout problem as I didn’t optimize this theme to use on IE6.

As far as I’m concern, this theme is tested working in Firefox, IE7 and IE8.

  8. Hello,

I’d like to incorporate a forum once I transition to this theme.
Any suggestions on a good one to add to this theme? Note: I’d like to add it on as another page in the site.

    Thanks.

  9. As always working perfect. Thanks. I`ll test it for few days just to make sure that I can manage everything I want to, but I`m quite sure that will be the theme for my blog 🙂

  10. Hi, Ronald!
Here I am and again I have some questions… 🙂
1st when I`ve set the Glider Headline News at the control panel it doesn`t matter how many I`ve chosed – it shows 5. For exaple I`ve put only 4 categories, but again on the page it displays 5. Speaking if it i couldn`t find a way to put more than 5 on the front page /6,8,10/. How can I do that like it is here on the sreenshot? You can take a look at test.e71nokia.net where I still test the theme before using it on my blog.
2nd – from where I should change the futured video code, so that I can put a video I want?
3rd if I delete “php include (TEMPLATEPATH . ‘/sponsor.php’);” will it remove the 125×125 ads? I preffer to ask first becouse the last time I did something before asking and it turned out that I`m not allowed 🙂
At the end I have to thank you for your work! You`ve put end to my searching for new theme for one of my blogs. I like this one – it fits perfect for it.
You can`t imagine how hard is to find a working theme, magazine style, widget-ready, with control panel and settings, with design that allows you to show maximum post on the front page, so that you can increase ones time spent on the blog, the number of the viewed pages so that you could reduce the bounce rate…

    • Hai, Boris. Regarding your questions:

      1. I’m not really sure about what you meant on this question..Anyway, the gliding headline news is separate with the 273×119 thumb standard post. If you want to display more than 5 block of the standard post (posts with 273×119 thumb), please check your wp-admin > settings > reading > Blog pages show at most, set it to your desired number of post there. if this what you meant earlier..

      2. you can change the featured video by going to the theme option, wp-admin > appearance > theme options, Under Sidebar Featured Video, copy & paste the appropriate code shown in the example.

      3. Yes, you can safely remove the sponsor.php include code if you don’t want it.

Thanks again for your kind words..I appreciate it. I hope above solutions are working for you. Feel free to let me if you have trouble using this theme again.

  11. I have some questions :

    – when I put a picture in an article, it is not resize on the home page. How can I solve it ?

    – how can I change the date and hour in my language (french) ?

    • I see that you’re using YAPB plugin for image. It doesn’t work when the plugin is enable, try disabling it.

Please refer to this website on how to localize the date in French:
      http://webmaster.lycos.co.uk/tips/989424764/

Please let me know if you have trouble using this theme again. Thanks.

      • Hi, thank you. I have a problem with the size of pictures without YAPB. If you see the article “Loporem et denivum”, the picture posted is stretched in the glider and in the homepage…

        Have a good day

        • Ok. To make the thumb looks nicer, you can manually crop the big picture to 273 x 119 and upload it into your own image folder, then use the ‘feat-img’ custom value to use it as thumb.

Sometime, Timthumb script doesn’t crop odd size picture properly, That’s why I prepare a custom value feature for manual insert.

Please try it out and let me know if you have trouble using this theme again.

          • Thank you. But I don’t understand what means “then use the ‘feat-img’ custom value to use it as thumb.”. Could you explain please ?

            • There’s not ‘timthumb.php’ in the zip file of century.

            • Ok. On the post edit, under custom fields, enter ‘feat-img’ in name box and the url location of your thumb on value box.

Please download Timthumb HERE. Create a ‘scripts’ folder inside your wp install root and upload the timthumb.php inside the folder, CHMOD 777 or 755.

Please try it out and let me know the result. Thanks.

              • I tried all the format in the url whit ‘feat-im’ custom : 250×207, 273×119, 150×120, 250×200, 230×100, 555×200. Once the picture in the glider is OK but it is not in the post of the homepage or it’s OK in the post but not in the glider…

  12. Hi, your them is modern and pro. I try it. It’s my first beginning in using blog. My english is not perfect, sorry. I have some questions. When I integrate a youtube video, 2 screens appear. I can’t solve this problem. Thank’s for help.

    • it’s ok. Youtube problem solved.

      • Please tell me how to get rid of the 2 videos, have’t been able to figure it out.

        • I believe you didn’t embed the video code correctly. Please go to the theme options, under sidebar featured video, refer to the example for the code to put.

          • Hello, I’m a bit of a novice here so please excuse my tems. I really love this theme but I still cant get the video to work and play at the right size. When i did manage to change the embed code for a smaller video I kept getting two videos. Its also made the side bars move.

            • Please let me know your site url so I can take a look at it. Please open a new thread comment next time. Thanks.

  13. Thanks Ron for the quick reply. I was also wonder about the youtube video. I love it’s placement, perfect but I would like to remove the featured, comments tab above it how would it do that. Also while we’re at it I would also like the follow me twitter link at the top-right to be changed. Is this possible.

    Thanks

    • Sure. No problem. I’m glad the banner worked out for you. Well, if you want to remove the tabbers and leave it with only the embed youtube video on the box. Please open the sidebar.php and look for similar code below:

      — Delete From Here —
      < */div class="tabbertab"/*>
      < -- Some Codes Here -->
      < */div>
      — Delete To Here —

Just delete the tabbertab class containing the ‘Recent Comments’ and ‘Most Commented’.

Finally, please open the tabber.css inside the css folder and add this line:

      display: none;

      inside the ul.tabbernav li

Ok. Regarding the twitter link. Did you mean that you want to change the ‘follow me’ text on it? If so, just open the header.php and you can easily find the twitter linking setting there where you can edit it manually.

That’s all. Please try it and let me know the result..

      • Ron,

Thanks everything worked perfectly. I have one last question and suggestion. I’m looking for a plugin that will read rss feeds for my front page.

Basically I want a headliner coming from yahoo sports. Would you know of a plugin to do that.

By the way you template was great. I went through about 20 template and finally found this template.

        Thanks for the good work.

  14. Thanks for this wonderful theme. I’m using it on my site but can’t seem to get it to work with any contact form plugin. Can you advise which to use? Your help is greatly appreciated.

    • Hai, Lin. I’m glad you like this theme. Regarding your question:

I’ve visited your site and I believe you’re using the Contact Form WordPress Plugin by Mike Challis. Right? As I see it, one of the main reason why the shortcode “[si_contact_form]” is showing on your contact page is you didn’t activate the plugin and update its setting. Please check it out on your plugin page.

Also, don’t forget to disable ping and comment on the contact us page you have created. Please try it out and let me know the result.

      • Hi Ronald, thanks for the quick reply. I actually did activate the plugin as well as update its setting. I also disabled ping and comment as per your instruction but yet the form does not show up. Please advise. Thank you.

        • Try adding code tag wrapping the si_contact_form:

          [si_contact_form]

          in HTML edit mode.

replace [ ] with <> on the code tag.

Please try it out and let me know the result. Thanks.

          • Tried that. Still did not work 🙁

            • I’m not really sure what causing it. Sorry..Maybe your php.ini config doesn’t allow shortcode parsing.

I would suggest you to find another contact form plugin.

Btw, have you tried redownloading the plugin and reupload it into your plugin folder? If you wanna try it, make sure you delete your old contact form plugin first before uploading the new one. Maybe your previous plugin was corrupted. You can download the contact form plugin HERE.

  15. Great theme, just one problem… How can I get rid of the image in the advertising widget and put my google adsence. Like you have on your site.

    Thanks

    • Hai, Jeff. I’ve fixed the 160×600 banner setting in the theme option, it wasn’t working properly before. Please redownload the theme and just replace the functions.php and sidebar.php.

Then, go to the theme option panel and set up your banner code under the “Google Adsense & Analytics Settings”. Please let me know if you have any problem using this theme again. Thanks.
